British Universities & Colleges Sport (BUCS) is the national organisation for higher education sport in the UK. It brings together expertise and experience from two former representative bodies – British Universities Sports Association (BUSA) and University College Sport (UCS) – to provide a unified voice for sport, fitness and physical activity on university campuses. Working with 153 universities across the country BUCS provides students with access to 50 sports, 150 weekend sporting events and facilities the leagues and fixtures of 3800 student teams who compete each week.
Classic Miniatures were asked to submit revised badge and medal designs when BUCS was formed, drawing on the two former organisations’ requirements. Our in-house designers produced different options based on the BUCS brief and from that, the client selected their chosen preference. The new medal will be awarded to over 6000 university athletes across the season with many BUCS medallists going on to excel in their chosen sport, athletes such as Paula Radcliffe, Montell Douglas, James Cracknell, Monty Panesar and Liam Tancock are former BUCS medallists.
